Invisalign is a type of orthodontic treatment that uses clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth. The aligners are custom-made for each patient using 3D imaging technology, and they are worn for 20-22 hours per day, only to be removed when eating or drinking.

Every few weeks, patients receive a new set of aligners that gradually shift the teeth into their desired position. Invisalign is a popular alternative to traditional metal braces because the aligners are virtually invisible and can be removed for cleaning and eating.

Treatment time varies depending on the complexity of the case, but on average, it takes about 12-18 months to complete.

Invisalign are clear aligners that incrementally straighten your teeth. You will wear your aligners for a few weeks before progressing to the next set. The number of aligners you require will depend on the amount of movement.

When you visit Riverport Dental for a consultation we will assess your oral health and determine what the best course of action for your oral health is. If Invisalign is the preferred treatment to improve your smile we will take impressions of your teeth and send it off to the laboratory.

Approximately two weeks later you will return to our dental practice where we will fit your first set of aligners. Generally, depending on the rate of progress, we will see you every two to eight weeks after that to change your aligners for the set in the process.

Once traditional braces are bonded to your teeth they don’t come off until the treatment is complete. With Invisalign, you can remove them to eat, drink, for photos and special events. The advantage of being able to remove the aligners of your own volition is you can brush and floss your teeth normally: although you must brush your teeth before placing the aligners back.

Being able to remove them means there are no awkward few weeks where you are required to go on a soft food diet while your teeth and gums adjust to the wires and brackets. You also can bite into a steak without worrying about breaking brackets or wires.

With this form of treatment, your dentist will explain how many hours per day you will need to wear your aligners. Typically you will be required to wear your aligners for 22 hours a day, wearing your aligners for less than the prescribed time may prolong treatment and compromise expected results.

Went here for the first time today and they did an amazing job of keeping me comfortable while they worked hard to extract a very difficult tooth. The bill was very reaosnable too.
